The Cure

Spending the hours crying out loud,
Tossing around like an insomniac.
Unable to bear the pain,
Wondering if I can breathe again.

Then a brush of softness
Moved right up to my face.
And a magical melody
Relaxed the beating pace.

Before I knew it, my eyes got heavy.
But not with the tears this time.
My heart felt lighter out of the blue,
'twas a moment of pure sublime.

Next thing I know, my crying had ceased.
My pain seemed to heal.
My worries and fears, all melted away,
My breathing obviously eased.

Sweet, sweet sleep started to embrace me.
As the purring continued to grow.
My little baby saved me again,
Dragged me out of every low.

And here I am, smiling again,
With no scars, no trace of pain.
A touch, a kiss, a hug, the purr,
The ultimate medicine, it's her!
